What's In Store For The Kids Of Concordia
All the same things that your child can expect from a traditional school are to be found at Concordia. We cover all the basics - from science and math to language and arts. Each subject is geared to cover the same levels of content that you would find at each respective traditional school grade level. The difference is the Christian atmosphere in which they are taught and the addition of areas of interest that follow the teachings of the Lord. And, in keeping with the neighborhood theme, Concordia welcome the participation of parents as volunteers. This maintains the values of family and allows the teachers the freedom to work in a more focused manner with individual students and groups. To keep our students safe, all volunteers must complete a back-ground check.
One morning each week Concordia’s students and staff assemble in the church for a special Children's Chapel Service. The short object lessons are designed to meet the needs and desires of the children. Often, they enhance areas of study during that week and provide examples of that study given through the word of the Lord.
All students at Concordia are taught the fundamentals of music in classes that serve as our "Day School Choirs." Children are instructed in rhythm, beat, and how to read musical notes. A wide range of music styles are presented including classical, folk, multi-cultural and much more. We also have instrumental instruction. Third and fourth graders learn to play the recorder. We have a beginning band in the fifth grade and a 6-8th grade Concert Band. Middle School students can also be a member of one of our Handbell groups. Choirs and instrumentalists have the opportunity to praise God with their musical talents at two of Concordia Lutheran Church's worship services each year.
Concordia is a member of the Central Carolina Independent School Athletic Association. CCISAA Conference. Concordia has a soccer team, girls volleyball teams, boys and girls basketball teams, cheerleading squads, tennis teams, and a golf team. All fifth through eighth graders are encouraged to participate. In basketball, volleyball and cheerleading there are teams for grades 5/6 and 7/8. The conference also sponsors a track meet for first through eighth grade students. Other types of sporting activities are offered and integrated into the entire educational experience.
Before and After School Child Care
Concordia offers supervised before and after school care each day school is in session. This is available for Concordia students only.
Pre-Kindergarten/Child Care Program
Because Concordia believes that the growth and development of children can be fostered best in a Christian environment, Concordia offers a Pre-School 3 Year Old Program and a Pre-Kindergarten 4 Year Old Program as additional services to the community.
Concordia's Summer Preschool through Kindergarten and School Age Camps are offered to children of the community. These programs offer stimulating educational experiences on a regular schedule during the summer months.
